Henry Hudson Trail is a rail-trail bike path is an asphalt paved 22-mile long trail converted from a former railroad right-of-way. The path is relatively flat, traveling Freehold north to Keyport and then east to Atlantic Highlands. Much of the trail is tree-lined, though some parts near the Atlantic Highlands have views of surrounding wetlands, streams and fields. Review of Southern Extension: Freehold to Marlboro and Aberdeen.

Henry Hudson Trail parking at the north end of the trail, behind the Matawan YMCA.

The end of this section of the Henry Hudson Trail at the northern end is actually about 100' after crossing the road. Parking behind the Matawan YMCA is immediately to the left of the trail.

A leafy canopy covers most of the middle section of the trail.

Croosing at busy Route 34. Probably the most dangerous of the crossing. There are no traffic light, only crossways.

The trail crosses the end of the runway of the now closed Matawan Airport, now a mausoleum.

Crossing the old road that used to connect the Matawan Airport to Route 79.

Crossing at Morganville Road. There is a parking lot for maybe 5 cars just off to the right side.

The southern end of the trail ends at Station Road. Route 79 south is just to the left. A mulch covered trail leading to the Bicycle Hub bike shop and parking is maybe 50' before the trail ends.
